The Vril: a most muliebral Force

From the end of the 19th century to the 1930’s the Völkisch Weltanschauung in Europe, and Germany in particular, was a clear sign that there was an occult/hidden revolution against the degrading influence of positivist science, industrialism and humanistic enlightenment. The rise of occult and obscure societies like the Thule and Vril Society were no coincidence as the ancient spirit in the Soul of Europa was being awakened.

The Vril society of Berlin was an obscure community (“Reicharbeitsgemeinschaft ‘Das Kommende Deutschland’”) which published a brochure entitled ‘Vril: die kosmische Urkraft’ (1930) and this described the Atlanteans as possessors of a spiritual ‘dynamo-technology’ superior to the mechanistic notions of modernist science (Clarke 2002: 166). A second brochure rejected the notion of explosive energy and focused on ‘free energy’. These revolutionary ideas concerning science and technology went against the hegemonic process of materialization that suffocated all life and culture and turned it into mere calculated ‘objects’ (Heidegger: Gestell). The Enlightenment had only brought us a masculous (Myatt) approach of endless analysis, division and multiplicity. We follow Evola who realized that Western life was “completely absorbed in ‘becoming’, with its focus on rational means, speed and technical efficiency.” (Clarke 2002: 57) The Völkisch movement and its occult societies were of course aware of this as well.

Vril as a victorious and transformative energy

With Serrano we concur that the West is facing “the shadowy age of involution, of the Kali Yuga”, “where nature has been abandoned to neglect by a rationalist and atheist science and technology.” (Serrano) Instead of a masculous science and technology (current industrial and technological revolution based on basic human needs) we must aim for a muliebral one (transformative, beyond humanism, one of bewilderment and awe) that does not aim for the disintegration of Eorthe into the abyss and nothingness (Serrano), for that is the path on which we are walking now.

This new approach of alchemical transformation is fueled by the Vril as victorious energy, as an accumulation of the power of

“anti-gravity of the unknown I, as a “truly transformative power which would fuel a virtual and biological mutation of the semi-divine race and of some man-animals into semi-divine men and thus making it possible to return to Hyperborea, to the Polar Thule. An inner, alchemical process, of transformation of the involuted being. A process of initiation by dregrees in the transfiguration of terrestrial man into celestial man, immortal.” (Serrano)

As Serrano writes this is truly transformative. Mytho-poetics are of great importance for the immortality of the human mind, of our Western Soul, and instead of creating new ones out of fiction, we should study the ancient occult theories on Thule, Aldebaran, Shambhala for these are transformative in themselves. Each of us must find the hyperborean Thule in our heart, for there we can start to build a new Solar Imperium and always with our our Death as perspective. Immortality is not something one achieves but immortality presents itself through us, through our Noble behavior, our Respect for Traditions, our inner ‘Vrilian’ transformation and the Transgression of all Laws. 

The Muliebral

In one of his latest texts “Tu Es Diaboli Ianua” Myatt asks the question whether Christianity “whether that religion is, given our thousands of years old human culture of pathei-mathos, a suitable presencing of the numinous”. A question that must lead us to the gnostic foundations of this Magian Weltanschauung as present-day Christianity enslaves its followers by installing an Iron law forged by a Godhead; an unquestionable male arch-divinity.

The Numinous, as seen by Myatt, is very much the Acéphalic concept of the Sacred, a “supra-personal, ‘cosmic’, perspective” towards the Divine, the Unreachable and which cannot be captured in words or ideas. While the Magian religions today monopolize the Sacred by installing a divine ruler who cannot be transcended, the true Mystic only worships his own devotion, the Nothingness, the Empty Space once occupied by God but now pronounced dead. Meister Eckhart did not describe the Sacred because of its absence as we humans cannot reach, imagine this. The Sacred can only be ‘sensed’ as it were, and through one’s pathei mathos one grows as an individual.

As Myatt describes there is a difference between a religious apprehension of the Numinous, the Sacred and the Paganus one. The religious experience, as taught today, is one that relies on books, scriptures, a certain distance, while the Paganus one means utter devotion (without book or scriptures) as it is all based on one’s inner experience, on the Numinous connexion one is able to make. There is no religious revelation of a higher truth commanded by an omnipotent god, but there is only wordless bewilderment (Heidegger).  Bataille would call this the non-sensical, non-sense, devoid of all meaning. This kind of bewilderment one experiences by making long walks in nature, by being masterd by the elements, by feeling lost in the woods, by feeling helpless as a child and yet feel connected with an im-possible and grand force of the Cosmic. All classic religious paths are founded upon control, upon worldly power and hubris, while classical paganism connects mortals to the cosmos, to the divine, to the numinous (Myatt). And as Myatt remarks and describes the Numinous is primarily a manifestation of the female, of the muliebral:

 “A muliebral presencing is or would be manifest in a predominance of female deities; or in a dominant female deity; in legends and myths which celebrate muliebral virtues, such as empathy, sensitivity, gentleness, compassion; and in the perception that personal love should triumph over and above adherence to abstractions. Considered exoterically – not interiorly, not esoterically – a muliebral presencing is manifest in a personal, varied, worship and devotion; in a personal weltanschauung and not in a religion; has no hierarchy; no creed, no article or articles of faith; and no texts whether written or aural.” (Myatt)

Of course, for a civilization to grow and to develop a masculous presencing is needed as well. This stands for hierarchy, order and control, and it protects Traditions, Culture, the community. But when we talk about true and fundamental re-ligare, truly connecting with the Sacred a muliebral presencing is needed. An authentic community needs a genuine, headless Mysticism, a Numinous connexion with its ancestral past, its Cultural history in order to truly ex-sist as Dasein. One’s Essence is always Numinous and cannot be bought or sold, but very few today are still aware of this. A multibral presence liberates one from the Mundane, from one’s unconscious search for power and control.

In my view the Vril force is therefore a most paganus and therefore muliebral force. The power which was derived from Vril included telepathy and telekinesis and the Vril was described as an enormous reservoir of psychic energy not only in the world at large but also in the human organism, only accessible to initiates. The author Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton had described this force in his book ‘the Coming Race’ (1871).

Interestingly, central to the Vril Society was the female medium Maria Orsic, known by the name of Sigrun, who claimed to have contacted extraterrestrials of the solar system of Aldebaran. We do not aim to go into the veracity of such claims, but it shows that there was a huge interest in the paranormal which had been banished by the Enlightenment and positivism. The female mystic has always occupied a special place in the occult history of our Evening Land.

Communities driven by Vril: a historical manifestation

Our sole purpose to refer to such a history is to show that there was a undeniable muliebral presencing in Europe at a time when industrialism and ‘correct’ sciences were sweeping all over Europe in order to destroy our Dasein’s connexion with Nature and the Cosmic. The positvist attitude reduced everything to something utilitarian and instrumental in order to turn everything into a ‘Gestell’ (Heidegger) for profit’s sake.

What we witness here is the unique convergence of the Numinous, an electrification by the ancient Vril force,  and the morphogenesis of a new movement which grew out of the necessity to banish the statism of Sovjet socialism and liberalism, both blind for masculous movements lead by greed and money. What esoteric-Völkisch National-Socialism at first embodied was the muliebral of the connexion, a truly religious/mystical experience, and the masculous of ancient Empires by divine inspiration. Here we witnessed for a short while the possibility of the resurgence of the Greek-Roman ideal and the complete man, the Ur-man (Serrano). Yet, driven by a  greedy war and industrialism (the manufacturing of weapons), the need for imperialism (criticized by Spengler, Heidegger & Jünger) National-Socialist Germany soon fell victim to productionist metaphysics as described by Heidegger, who first supported the revolution but then saw its disastrous turn towards imperialism, science, money.

All of the sudden the muliebral presencing was gone and this went back underground. The rise of neo-Völkisch groups such as Baelder, TBO, Sinister orders such as the ONA, mystical currents such as the Numinous Path however show that the muliebral flame of the Vril force is still burning. These ‘societies’ have taken the place of the Thule and Vril society to resurrect the supra-personal Völkisch Ethos (Authentic belonging-to, Authentic spirituality, nobility, humility, compassion, warriorship, Sein-zum-Tode and so on), the importance of the Eorthe (community) and the Cosmic (transgression of the Law, the limits) in one’s actions, thoughts, meditations, writings and art. This kind of bewilderment, which is fundamentally Pagan Greek in origin, has re-emerged from the murky history of Europe’s Kali Yuga.  What we witness here is an Authentic enthousiasm: becoming inspired by the Pagan Gods, the Dark Gods, the Numinous). The Vril force serves as an engine which revitalizes the West albeit the fact that we have to face the ultimately disastrous consequences of the hegemonic forces of the Kali Yuga.

The Power of the Vril force opens up a new perspective when a new culture and civilization will rise after the ultimate Ragnarokr. The masculous forces of management, ultra-liberalism, new age-isms, clashes of various cultures, economic imperialism, male dominance (as opposed to the wealth of the pagan Matriarchal systems) are all aimed to smother the mytho-poetic Vril force, yet as has been shown before the Vril is omnipotent and mytho-poetics will rise again after the Decline of the West. The Vril is a force that truly enlightens those who wish to focus on it, and the Vril is able to create a true community (of which Bataille and Heidegger spoke). With Bataille we emphasize the need for new communities (whether in the flesh or spiritually connected) as it is the first creed of the Bataillean Acéphalic group.

We must realize that as the decades will pass in the near future the muliebral presencing will become much harder to notice, and therefore it must be internalized so it can survive the Struggle (European but also Global) we are facing. And when we turn to Heidegger and the conservative Revolution, it is very clear that in times of Struggle only a strong, will-powered Community is able to embody Sacred values (an authentic Gemeinschaft). In the long run such a Gemeinschaft will turn out to be the victor because the current mundane Gesellschaft (economic, values, laws, …) is weak and corrupted by a slave morality. Such a Gesellschaft will in the end evaporate and a community/Gemeinschaft will raise its victorious voice. “War is the ultimate rationale, the Grund or ground, of Gemeinschaft.” Heidegger:

“That which neither the individual by itself nor the Gemeinschaft as such is, that must become manifest. The comradeshift of the frontline soldiers was grounded neither in the fact that they had to gather together with other humans because they needed them and could find them only at other places. Rather, at bottom it is grounded only in the fact that the nearness of death as a sacrifice placed each one in advance into the same nullity, so that this latter became the source of unconditional belonging-to-each-other.” (Heidegger)

So, it is not a matter of bargaining,  simple management, like the social democratics and liberals execute their policy, but it is a spiritual matter altogether. Bargaining is all about survival, hypocrisy, egotism, a mismanaged masculous handling. What the Vril force actually does, is point out to the Essence of Death in our Weltanschauung. Death is bound to Greek bewilderment, to en-thousiasm, to discipline, to loyalty, to the eternal Gemeinschaft:

“It is precisely Death – the death each human being has to die for himself and which singularizes each individual to the utmost extent – it is precisely death and the willingness of its sacrifice (=the willingness to offer one’s own death as a sacrifice), that first and foremost and beforehand creates the site of Gemeinschaft from which comradeship emerges. Thus, does comradeship grow out of Angst? No, and yes. No, if one, like the Philistine, understands by Angst the helpless quivering of panicky cowardice. Yes, if Angst is understood as the metaphysical nearness to the unconditional, a nearness that is given as  a gift to the highest self-sufficiency and readiness. If we do not compel power into our Dasein that, like Death as a free sacrifice, bind and singularize unconditionally – that is, powers that catch hold of each individual at the root of its Dasein and that, like Deaht as a free sacrifice, stand deeply and wholly in an authentic knowing – then no ‘comradeship’ will emerge. In that case, the result will at best be a modified form of Gesellschaft.” (Heidegger)

Inauthentic Dasein avoids being taken over by Being itself, by such a power which we name the Vril. Such a power remains concealed for those that let themselves by ruled by Das Man, by the Gesellschaft which does not care for the Numinous, the muliebral. Their Angst for Being is a helpless quivering of panicky cowardice in the Struggle. The Angst for those that had their Soul exposed to the Vril is what Heidegger calls this ‘metaphysical nearness to the unconditional, a nearness that is given as a gift to the highest self-sufficiency and readiness.” It is unconditional as there are no human laws or rules that are applied, but such Dasein ventures itself in an unknown territory, shared by other comrades and together the battle is fought. Each comrade is part of the Gemeinschaft which exists because of the preceding bond, “a bond that binds each individual to that which keeps bound and determines each individual in a super-elevating manner.” (Heidegger)

Thus, the Vril is a most powerful force as it re-introduces a non-instrumental view of looking at technology, at the Sacred powers of Eorthe (instead of exploiting its resources), at a new kind of science which has no interest in financial gain. Let us fully enjoy the power of mytho-poetics in order to celebrate a resurgence of the West, but let us also celebrate the Ragnarokr of our Evening Land, our global Sein-Zum-Todes. We are “human, all too human” and our tragic natures opens up the Sacred once again. The Vril will function as a volcano, as an eruption of a most deadly force, and it points at the outbrake of the Struggle leading up to an Authentic existence which honours the muliebral.

“Now we are facing the shadowy age of involution, of the Kali Yuga, The use of power (Hvareno, Vril) is taught in Shambhala that permits the mutation of man and of the Earth; the warrior’s initiation is given, which makes it possible. Since ‘as inside, so outside’, the mutation of man into semi-divine and divine will permit the simultaneous transfiguration of the planet.” (Serrano)

The Acéphalic community


We must keep in mind the following acpehalic points of Bataille’s Programme drawn up in 1936. An important periode as the Great Depression ruled Europe and many intellectuals were dissatisfied with the parliamentary democracy, the industrial revolution. The Conservative revolution in Germany was the strongest outburst of dissatisfaction, but Bataille also shared a number of ideas. We must keep in mind though that Bataille did not seek for the birth of a new ‘political’ movement, but his Weltanschauung certainly had a return to the Sacred in mind for the West.

 1. Form a community, creative of values, values creative of cohesion.

2. Assume the function of destruction and decomposition, but as an accomplishment, and not as a negation of being.

3. Realize the universal accomplishment of personal being in the irony of the animal world and through the revelation of an acephalic universe.

4. Take upon oneself perversion and crime, not as exclusive values, but as integrated within the human totality.

5. Realise the personal accomplishment of being and its tension through concentration, through a positive asceticism and through positive individual and collective discipline.

6. Fight for the decomposition  and exclusion of all communities socialist, nationalist, communist or churchly.

7. Affirm the reality of values, the resulting inequality of men, and acknowledge the organic character of society.

8. Take part in the destruction of the existing world, with eyes open to the world to come.

9. Affirm the value of violence and the will to aggression insofar as they are the foundation of all power.

Meditate on these words and incorporate them in your Sacred  Weltanschaung. Today’s ultra political correctness and cheap leftist anthropocentrism has turned many of these statements into negative, forbidden and in-human principles. Yet our mysticism is of a Nietzschean kind: tragic, organic and true to the Eorthe, vibrant, the affirmation and destruction of life, truly human, un-relentless, poetic & mythological.  These statements are of an ultimate aeonic importance as they lay the foundation of a possible new Western world / civilization to come. One we cannot envisage or practically aim for, but we need to be reminded of a possible Return to the Origin of the West: the Greek bewilderment. This present World cannot be our aim as it would stifle our actions, but we must always remind ourselves of our Gnostic origin and the discontinuous state of Being.  

As Christos Beest (ONA) once explained the ‘earthing’ of acausal, Numinous forces is done by adepts and initiates of the Sinister Path, by warriors, poets and artists, and thus ‘earthing’ is laying/preparing the esoteric foundation of a new world to come.

Like Bataille we want to cultivate and re-instate the Sacred again and we genuinely believe in the need of an elective headless (anarchic – Jünger) communities in order to unleash the Numinous forces again. Bataille referred to these “as a secret society, network” or even an “order” in the truly religious or initiatory sense. Such communities were/are the setting for the examination of and experimentation with “truths that lacerate, which absorb those to whom they appear and is even animated by a movement which distances from them.” (Irwin, Saints of the Impossible, p. 19). The idea was to corrode the wider society through the sacred energies embodied by the community focused on figures of Death (our Sein-zum-Tode) and beyond any instrumental logic.” Acéphale had no explicit ‘political’ agenda, no goals beyond this one: “Existence, that is to say tragedy”. Our prophet aimed at a shattering of the “principle of the head” as all revolutions have historically lead to just another tyranny (one “head”) based on mundane and worldly power.

The “head” so to speak sucks up all the blood, all the vitality of the society, and therefore paralyzes all vitality, creativity by turning it into an obedient, lifeless servility. One must not forget that a society, a community is an organism just like our bodies and the blood needs to flow freely through the organism. There can only be a ‘leadership’ in the occult sense: those who have been initiated and gone through several ordeals. Their fearless and harsh leadership is beyond the need for power or domination, as they have transcended hubris. They are devoted to the collective and its numinous connexion.

Such communities, like the Nexions of the Sinister Tradition, genuine monastic orders exist beyond the mundane realm. Of course, they participate in ‘mundane’ actions such as taking care of and protecting each other, educating each other, making dinner, growing vegetables and so on, but all in harmony with their natural surroundings. These actions have become Numinous and therefore ‘reason’, as promoted by the Enlightenment and positivist science, has been left behind. These Acéphalic communities are not ‘managed’, but they are alive, they thrive from the blood energy of their member who remain faithful to ancient traditions and to the land where they have grown up. Therefore according to Bataille: “The formation of a new structure, of an ‘order’ developing and seething through the entire earth, is the only real liberatory act – and the only one possible.” (Irvin 20).

Like Bataille we genuinely are fed up with the inertia (still present) of the West, and we are dissatisfied with the instrumentalism that dominates the hegemonic Weltanschauung and so, poetic-ontologically, we have no choice but to think of alternatives. Today, orders such as the Order of Nine Angles, the remaining medieval monastic orders, occult groups with a Pagan Weltanschauung, Traditionalists all carry with them the everlasting flame, Pneuma of the Deus Absconditus. The life forms that are (being) established by them form that very alternative. As the West is slowly dying, infested by its own corruption and greed, these communities (even when they come and go) are the sign that alchemical gold grain of the West is not lost and still fertile.

These manifestations of the Vril strengthen me: GA WATH AM! The JOY before DEATH!

Vaniticism: an immense ocean of annihilation


Mental disorder – musical cursed matter – reigns supremely as I listen to Scatmother’s latest opher-ing Vaniticism. This is the non-place, the Empty place after the Death of God, the place from which the monstrous Archontes, chained to the empty throne of their creator-Demiurg, are howling. Like mad dogs they are barking and making Labyrinthic noise which infects my nervous system for this is cursed musick undermining any ‘human’ consistency. This is horrifying music leading the listener, as will-less but erotically aroused Sacrifice, to the most unheimliche caverns of his mind where he is to be tortured, raped and decapitated by the absent Demiurg – this wretched creator of this world.

Scatmother’s creations – or should we call them ’excretions’ – are contaminated, plague wielding and infested with rottenness. The artist has a fascination for extreme and deep display of human obsessions and these are powerful emotions to work with. From a most radical LHP point of view one could say that these creations are prime examples of what Bataille calls “base matter”, namely sacred objects which have a special status and which are infused with a most contagious power, with a deadly spark and a shock (Stoekl 2007: 19). From an Acéphalic-gnostic point of view matter  should be seen as an “active principle having its own autonomous existence as darkness, and as evil (which would not be the absence of good, but a creative action”. (Bataille Reader 1997: 162) The Magian point of view is one in which matter is seen as a degradation of superior principles which becomes clear in the ascetic approach. Bataille however stresses the importance of the organic, the energy infused in the flesh, the game of eroticism.

This organic approach can be heard in the particular power electronics of Scatmother as if it eminates from a gigantic corpse. Thematics such as degradation, humiliation (of the body, of the mind), debasement, deviant and criminal sexuality, pure unadulterated sadism and cruelty are inherently Sadean and transgressive in order to shock the listener, wake him up and hold him prisoner in a non-moral place where violence and filth are most pure.  

As a grotesque work of art the album stupefies the listener because of its horrific form and appearance. After listening to Vaniticsim I feel empty, sick, raped, stupified. As if I have become a masochist delivering myself to this sacred violence. This work of art will never be accepted just like shit, and most people will stay away from it as they find it repulsive, nauseating.

Just like Crowley’s decadent ritual of self-corruption one becomes an infected body as the fierce energy of the (de)compositions take over. Just like shit or vomit they are excreted, and in a Sadean way appropriated by the listener in order to be excreted again.  This is a demonic act of transmutation (Stoekl 2007: 20); a perverted and corrupted form the traditional alchemical process of the transition of lead (base matter: acephalic mysticism) into gold (elevated matter: monotheism). The acephalic alchemical transmutation is all about allowing oneself to be controled, grasped by the “formlessness” of that base matter. One becomes caught in the Lovecraftian structures of Scatmother’s black art. A spider’s web.  The artist describes “transcendence, dehumanization, isolation and passion” as very powerful concepts that allow one to get “to know your true nature, finding your path in life, being able to abandon certain things and follow others.” This is exactly what Acéphalic mysticism is all about: one does not follow blindly, one questions, one corrupts and destroys if it is necessary to grow spiritually. There is no ‘purpose’ for the Numinous is beyond human concepts, beyond the words and it must therefore be followed through experience, through action, through radical philosophy, meditation, transgressive arts, … One must leave behind the classical notion of utility which has become the norm in today’s neoliberal society.

But let us point out one thing: this radical path is a manifestation of the Sacred. Brutal ruptures are needed to focus on the Sacred again. Bataille describes two polarized human impulses: EXCRETION and appropriation. Each civilization has excremental collective impulses which are necessary for the status quo: the Greeks had their Dionysian cults, the Romans organized the Saturnalia as periods of time where transgression was allowed in order to free the Sacred energy within the flesh. These impulses can take various forms and Bataille lists

any sexual activity, whether perverted or not; the behavior of one sex before the other; defecation; urination; death and the cult of cadavers (above all, insofar as it involves the stinking decomposition of bodies); the different taboos; ritual cannibalism; the sacrifice of animal-gods; omophagia; the laughter of exclusion; sobbing (which in general has death as its object); religious ecstasy; the identical attitude towards shit, gods and cadavers; the terror that so often accompanies involuntary defecation; the custom of making women both brilliant and lubricious with make-up, gems and gleaming jewels; gambling; heedless expenditure and certain fanciful uses of money, etc. (The Bataille Reader 1997: 150)

Do we advocate limitless anarchy, limitless sexual debauchery? No, we regard these as sacred expressions of the Erotic which are important impulses of the human body. There is a Sinister Dialectic at work deep within our subconscious, and which should have its legitimate place in any society. However as Western civilization has entered its Kali Yuga, we must recognize the fact that this will no longer be possible. Therefore ritual acts, ritual & sacred music such as Scatmother’s remind us of these self-less tendencies and beyond. They are extreme beyond morality and we all have a potential madman lurking inside of us.

We must accept the eternal flow of rottenness as our gnostic legacy, as a primal force within matter. Our Vanitas as Super-Ego may work against that, but  you should ignore this. Instead of Vanitas one should welcome this continuous becoming as dripping slime and flesh. No false moralities but pure unadulterated Evil as a non-moral concept, as a concept that elevates and strengthens life. As Nick Land puts it:

“From birth we are brain-washed into conformity with the cage taught to accumulate, to shore ourselves up, to fear madness and death. Trapped in a constricting tangle of language routines we tread a narrow circuit in the maze. We are told that chance will not take care of us, and that it is difficult to live; work and seriousness are slums of delusion; the garbage-heap of individuation has no worth; what is called life at the outer edge of patriarchy is a bleak box of lies, drudgery, and anesthesia blended with inane agony; what matters about the outside of the box is not just that it is outside of the box, but that it is immense; what matters is the abyss, the gulf.” (Land, The Thirst for annihilation, p. 131 – 132)

Scatmother shows us how to open ourselves to sacred death by enjoying our Dionysian nature which must always find its balance again with the Apollonian (Traditions, Culture) and this is a constant struggle. Our present Western civilization has lost this struggle as the Dionysian and the Apollonian have been sold out, marketed, commercialized, anthropomorphized, … Therefore let yourself be tempted by Scatmother and “let an immense ocean of annihilation (A Zyklon Storm – Scatmother) stretch out before you.” (Land)  This annihilation, this Ragnarokr, as acquisition of pure primordial power (Scatmother) is very much needed! 333!

Das Ganz Anderes: Genfärd

I have been listening over and over again to Genfärd and I can hear Genfärd playing in the Abbey of Humility. A crushing non-presence, a violence that is so quiet and so fulfilling. The grinding noises, the floating voices are meditative and quietly lead up to the Apocalypse as our technological Nihilism demands its price, its toll. This is the sound of the last industrial machines trying to keep up the last human era before pure Being (a return to the Greeks!) will surface again in its utter splendour and awe. The music demands our devotion to the Sacred, our humilty, and at the same time we enjoy the Sadistic Nature of Being, its cruelty which we can hear through those creeping and screeping sounds. This is an awakening into a state of utter torment and inhumanity.

A non-comforting, a nauseating sense of urgency, radio-frequencies of a past war, a lurking primitivism captivate the listener, take a hold of him and turn him into a Victim-Executioner: the loss of Self.  The music is master! In the distance metallic sounds intersect with suffocating ambient clouds, like the gas clouds described by Jünger in his war novels. The invisible, yet foul smelling Death. Poisonous clouds as messengers of Death that come and go with the wind. The interplay of Death and the Elements. A martial beating of drums that announce the coming of the Svn who gives herself relentlessy and without mercy. Caught within the trenches of Life we must face the inevitable, our Sein-zum-Tode and the Joy before Death that welcomes it. Within Eorthe the putrefaction is at work and this also symbolizes the Alchemical process within us as Adepts of ancient paths, such as the Seven-fold Way of the ONA.

This music echoes the Abject core of our inhumanity (and for the chosen ones: a sur-humanity) – the Bataillean abject matter which is alive and pulsing. Genfärd enriches us, flows through our being as its sound is an excremental one:

“Sexual activity, whether perverted or not; the behavior of one sex before the other; defecation; urination; death and the cult of cadavers (above all, insofar as it involves the stinking decomposition of bodies); the different taboos; ritual cannibalism; the sacrifice of the animal-gods; omophagia; the laughter of exclusion; sobbing (which in general has death as its object); religious ecstasy; the identical attitude towards shit, gods and cadavers [….].” (Bataille, the Use-Value of D.A.F. de Sade)

Bataille identifies two polarized human impulses: excretion and appropriation. These are our excremental, orgiastic impulses vis-à-vis our  institutions, traditions, and both come natural to us and are developed through us, and not by us.

The two pillars of the Temple of our Acéphalic Weltanschauung symbolize the extreme “human and all too human” duality of these two impulses and we regard them as an enormous force, as an UR-manifestation of the in-human, the acausal, the black flame within us. Truly religious (re-ligare: the connexion with the Numinous) communities/nexions, dictatorial religious (mysticism of the Blood) states are a prime examples of communities where these impulses are given their freedom and where they both reinforce each other despite their seemingly opposite nature. One must look beyond their appearance and see their cosmic interplay as the cosmic itself is a violent and living organism. We regard das Ganz Anderes, the Bataillean heterogeneous, the radical Other as an important emanation of the Sacred that encompasses everything.

Genfärd is a collection of audible heterogeneous matter, throbbing and active base matter having its own eternal existence. The artist has been able to dive headlong into the Volcano of our impulses and after a careful and alchemical Work has been able to extract the most quintessential Numinous sounds.

Agios O Vindex


A few days ago V.K. Jehannum published an intruiging post with the title ‘There is no Vindex‘. As always a well researched blog post which challenges the reader and confronts him with suppositions which have not been questioned, such as the background of the Vindex archetype. V.K. always delves deeply into the particular history of the occult symbols and therefore frequents various sources. Our Acéphalic Weltanschauung is grounded in the mysticism of Georges Bataille, Traditionalism, Hermetic mysticism and the Sinister Tradition of which the ONA is one of the most exemplary emanations.  Therefore Vindex is one of the most important Archetypes to us. 

The central question V.K. Jehannum poses here is why the creators of the ONA highlighted  the connexion of this Archetype with the historical figure of Gaius Julius Vindex. As pointed out by V.K. the description used in the original ONA MSS is none other than the historical description of Gaius Julius Vindex:  “[Gaius Julius Vindex] was powerful in body and of shrewd intelligence, was skilled in warfare and full of daring for any great enterprise; and he had a passionate love of freedom and a vast ambition” (Cassius Dio, 63.22.1-2).

This historical connexion with Gaius Julius Vindex does not come as a suprise to me for it has always been clear to me. The Latin word ‘vindex’ has an imperial connotation: defender, protector, avenger and in my personal research many years ago I stumbled upon Gaius Julius Vindex. The question is why did the founders of the ONA choose this name.

  1. First of all, there is the Latin meaning: defender, protector, avenger. The last term has definitely been used to refer to the antinomian essence of Satan. Within the Sinister Tradition is Satan the Adversary, the Dark God that challenges the status quo, the ruling order for this particular order, the current Western aeon, has been superimposed upon the strong, the ones who live according to a master morality. Satan is the Shadow Aspect and as the embodiment of the Will to Power he keeps the Wheel of Life spinning. Satan represents none other than the chtonic and heterogeneous forces that are able to destabilize the current hegemonic order.  
  2. An important aspect of the Weltanschauung of the Sinister Tradition is based on the organic nature of civilizations (Spengler). The Magick of the Sinister Tradition is not only a personal one, but the Magician also operates on an aeonic level for in the end the scope of the Sinister Tradition lies beyond the current status of humanity and beyond Eorthe. Not just a simpleminded destruction but a trangression by building upon the rich Tradition of our forefathers and of the West. Its current degeneracy leaves us no other choice than to hold on what is still intact, what is still Traditional (ancient values, knowledge, aural and written folk traditions), cherish those treasure and strive towards the Stars. This means that the Archetype of Vindex, as a defender/protector of the ancient values/knowledge/traditions is a more than fitting one. The historical figure of Gaius Julius has its historical significance: Gaius Julius Vindex was a rebel and he wanted to dethrone Nero whom Gaius saw as an unworthy Emperor. Instead of seeing him as a ‘sovereign’ Gaius called him a ‘harpist’. The notion of sovereign is very dear to me: Bataille regards emperors, the aristocracy, madmen, mystics, … as ‘sovereign’ because they fight against the status quo, they embody sinister aspects which are not compatible with the status quo. I can imagine that Nero’s rule did not please Gaius Julius Vindex. Therefore the archetype of Vindex is very well chosen. The word associated with Vindex is ‘opher’. One must rise about the selfish concern typical for mundane behaviour. True Magic lies beyond oneself and just like Gaius one must be prepared to sacrifice oneself in order to prepare the Aeon of Fire.

Of course, it is a known archetype: the Wotan archetype, the archetype of the warrior, the champion warrior / warror caste can be studied in the writings of Julius Evola as well. Beside that there is Kalki (Hinduism), the Gnostic Christ of the Rosicrucians. These figures are warriors, mystics, prophets who oppose the ruling System because it has betrayed ancient and eternal values. These ‘defenders’ stand for a timeless tradition of the Sacred.  Bataille himself called upon antinomian, heterogeneous forces. The Bataillean figure of the Acéphalic man is a sort of Vindex figure as well: leading the rebellion with the heart and not through ratio (headless). The Vindex figure is therefore neither a hoax nor propaganda, as we are talking about the changes on an aeonic schale.  We need such a mythos in the present technologcial times as it keeps our head fresh. The antinomian power of the Vindex mythos should not be underestimated.

Another important source I would like to refer to is Metaphysics of War by the mystic Evola.  He devoted a chapter to the Roman conception of Victory which is very interesting in this respect and demonstrates how the Romans “believed in a meeting and mutual interpenetration of divine and human forces”. For the ancient Roman the manifestation of the Sacred, the Divine was “to be found in time, in history, in everything which is carried out through human action”. The importance of a mystical counterpart was important to the Romans and this leads us to the conclusion that Vindex’ rebellion against Nero, who had betrayed ancient Roman values through his decadence, is a mystical rebellion, and thus honourable. This intensfies and consolidates the Archetype of Vindex even more. Evola refers to the Samurai as well by explaining the Roman concept of devotio, what we would call ‘tragic heroism’. It was a warlike ritual action in which the sacrifice of oneself was vowed “and one’s own life was dedicated consciously to ‘lower’ powers, whose unleashing was to contribute to bringing victory.” Committing ritual suicide is not mentioned here but like the Samurai I can imagine that devoted imperators such as Gaius Julius Vindex committed his own death for the sake of victory. His army may have been defeated, his action did start a revolution against Nero whose suicide is nothing but cowardly. Vindex’ revolt was therefore a Traditionalist one and most mystical. So, I would say the historical reference is accurate and implies further thought. 

I find the reference of Evola to ‘lower’ forces particularly interesting as it has a most Sinister-Numinous connotation: summoning chtonic forces by certain ritual acts of war. Hermetically and acéphalically speaking we can say that the Vindex Archetype is the Solar rebirth after the chaotic phase of the Nigredo. The Vindex Archetype brings the defeat of a cancerous society and order by a courageous Self-Sacrifice. To embody this Archetype demands courage, sacrifice, devotion, true nobility, and not te be forgotten humility. The Archetype is the antidote of self-deification which I regard as one of the most festering diseases in the occult world. It is not about ‘becoming a living god’ but about a warriorlike and mystic devotion to  a higher standard in the service of the Sacred.

SIR:the pathway to the Sphere of Sol

You have just passed through the Sphere of Love and Ecstacy and this has transformed you into an Empathic Being, a Being amongst other Beings, a Being-with-Others. Look back at the seperatedness from which you suffered on the causal plane. The Alchemical Transformation has slowly, but steadily, beheaded you, and you have left instrumental Reason, reigning the causal plain, behind. This instrumental Reason had fossilized you, and had turned your life and ever-becoming Physis into a ‘dead nature’. From seperatedness to Unity that is thé most principle transformation one must go through. As you continue to travel through the Spheres, the esoteric doctrine of the seven points, “higher powers enter into the corporeal context, whereupon they become vital currents and energies specific to man” (Evola). This process (realisation of Wyrd) has the meaning of a “ressurection, palingenesis, an awakening”. Within the Sinister Tradition we not only regard this on the individual level, but also on a collective level.

Now you have arrived at the solar principle. Listen to the Meditation of Christos Beest:

From an Acéphalic point of view the meaning of Sol differs from Traditionalism where Solar and Lunar powers are seen as each others opposites. In the Alchemical Tradition the Svn and the Moon are “a fundamental duality” (Evola), and we recognize this in the Sinister Tradition as well: the appropriate workings for the Moon are acquiring hidden knowledge and the Svn stands for Prophecy and Revelations. The Sphere of Baldur as a new beginning, a new start, vision after the destruction of Ragnarok.

Our Sol however also encompasses the infernal and putrefying spirit of the Black Svn. It is also a Svn of Malediction and Putrefaction that shines through the Acausal Swamp.

Our Sol is fundamentally a Gnostic one, because instead of the Traditional view (the Svn producing life, generating wealth, and profit) ours is life-threatening as well. Along with Bataille we cry that He is not just beautiful to behold,  but he represents that which is repugnant and forbidden and thus we refer to the Svn as a “Solar Anus”! “We avert our eyes from the Svn”, notices Bataille as our eyes cannot stand “neither sun, coitus, cadavers and obscurity.” (The Solar Anus).

The Solar tradition emphasizes that the withouth warmth and light life on Eorthe would simply perish. But if you try to look into the Sol you will go blind. This inferal Star “exclusively loves the Night and directs its luminous violence toward the earth” (Bataille). Just like a volcano he is constantly belching out torrents of insane and excrutiating energy burning the retinas from those who dare to stare in the mouth of this celestial volcano. Limitlessly and undiscrimately Sol breathes Energy and only the Night is able to offer us some protection. Through its sheer  luminosity he creates the Darkness where chaos & destruction reside.

In Alchemical terms: after the conjunctio of Sol and Luna the process of Putrefactio starts in the alchemical vessel. This is an important step in your spiritual path as the old has to die first before the new development can start. This is a period of incubation and for the Alchemist this means a period of ‘creative depression’. All Alchemists go regularly through this period and this is also called melancholy. Nowadays people talk about being depressed or suicidal, but as an Alchemist you should know better. This is a period of internal reflection before you pass on to the next Sphere of Mars. 

You must bow in awe, and avert your physical gaze from this insanity because you would become blind and go mad. Its awful Greatness lies in its brilliant and burning insanity. This Sphere offers wisdom and vision (Lux being its Logos), but there is no wisdom without madness & chaos. The Black Svn disturbs and confuses our rational mind. What if Giordano Bruno would not have had the vision that the universe is infinite? 

This Acéphalic Svn burns away all Falseness, our treacherous Skin and exposes our Naked Flesh to the boning knife of the Continuum. Yes, tell this to every mundane human that  we are being exposed to our burning Apocalypse. This is the Opher demanded by a true Religion. Then only then, after thise rise of the Black Svn and the rise of the putrefying era, the Age of Brutalism, will our Vision, Understanding and Prophecy be pure again. Amen!

A meditation on physis and becoming


As I was singing the Sinister Chant dedicated to Jupiter, Agios O Baphomet, I reflected on the dark essence of the Mother of Blood, her sinisterly-feminine Nature. As I was practicing the chant, candles lit and incense burning, a vision of a shapeshifting, Kali-like, feminine divinity entered my mind. I saw her dancing most seductively in the burning rays of a huge giant Svn which was about to outburst like a volcanoe. I literally felt a giant outpouring of Numinous Energy descending upon me, obliterating my-self and the World. In her multiple hands she was holding the heads of men and at her feet I saw the decapitated bodies of her sacrificial victims as she had released them from the burden of their rational, project-minded, instrumental, mundane life, and their Spirit was set free to join the cosmic Flux of life. Our Mother might cruel, but her essence and intentions are the Purest Evil you can imagine. Within the Sinister Tradition Baphomet is being evoked, but of course this dark female principle, this Mistress of the Earth, is also represented by Lilith, Kali, Hecate and so on. The names in these various pagan traditions are merely causal, the essence however is Acausal and thus Cosmic.

Now, as I was meditating on this Essence I was suddenly reminded of one of Bataille’s meditations in which he evokes a dark feminine divinity, and this meditation is called “Méditation héraclitéenne” (Heraclitean Meditation) which he wrote in 1939 for his Secret Group L’Acéphale. He and the other adepts of this Secret Group must have used this meditation as part of their rituals they conducted in the woods. I genuinely believe that texts, meditations, evocations which were written for ritualistic purposes carry within them a certain power. The Words themselves, the meaning as such does not matter, but it is the poetry of the words, their sheer beauty and intent which make them magickal. The text is originally in French and I present you my translation. I am not a professional translator so I may have interpreted some lines, but that does not matter. I did not translate the whole text as I left out small parts (…) which were hard to translate and therefore incomprehensible in English. This is about the intent, the energetic flow within and between the words:


Heraclitean Meditation

I am War – I am Joy Before Death

I imagine an inexorable mouvement and an intense excitement – of which the possibilities are limitless – which never calm down except during the war

I imagine a dark female divinity dancing seductively in the Eternal Night, dancing and moving with quiet violence. She is hungry for blood, mutilated corpses and Death.

I imagine the Gift of an infinite suffering, of blood and of corpses (…) This Gift is a huge holocaust burning. A tremendous conflagration of which the eagerness is comparable to the Fire that only burns to devour itself and that has only one purpose: to  devour itself and to burn inexhaustibly. I can only compare this Fire to the dazzling Svn or the distant Stars radiating their unimaginable heat and light.

I can see Eorthe being projected into deep Space and I can compare this to a woman crying out in horror, her hair in flames.

I hate the need for this prolonged stupidity which is the opposite of the freedom of the woman’s Cry. After hearing this cry I lose myself.

This pitiless craving – taken to its most extreme principle by getting rid of this intolerable mask of stupidity  of military endeavours (serving any ideology or other ideas) – demands that I become this Cry and thus I become One with the brase of Life which consumes me until my Death.

With all my powers, and by lifting myself beyond my own nausea, I take upon myself everthing I can of this wretched craving for Life and this will-to-live. This craving makes one’s selflessness impossible and delivers each existence into the hands of Fear.

With all my powers, I consume my own craving to stay alive and the one of my fellow beings as well, in my Joy before Death. And as I consume this craving I feel that I burn hilariously the way the Svn does.

In this world of Summer and Winter, which consistute a dying blaze killing everything that lives, in this ever rotating universe giving itself to the stars which consume limitlessly, I recognize a cruel craving that demands my Death in a most violent manner. She requires it to still her endless consumption and appetite, for her Joy to exist most gloriously. She demands that everything which has ever been, must constantly destroy itself.


This philosophical – poetic evocation presents the most important elements of our Acéphalic Mysticism: the Sinister Feminine Essence, Headlessness, mystic Violence & War, the Svn and of course  the Sacred / Continuum.

Bataille also believed in a Continuum, a flux of Energy and in his meditation he refers to the element of Fire. This brings us to Heraclitus and David Myatt.

Heraclitus & David Myatt

In Myatt’s Notes on Heraclitus we find a valuable addition to Bataille’s Heraclitean Meditation.

The phrase Φύσις κρύπτεσθαι φιλεῖ – attributed to Heraclitus – is often translated along the following lines: Nature loves to conceal Herself (or, Nature loves to hide).

David Myatt explains that a central concept of  the philosophy of Pathei Mathos is Φύσις (Physis). Referring to Aristotle Physis not only denotes ‘nature’ or the character of a person, but “physis denotes the being of those beings who or which have the potentiality (the being) to change, be changed, or to develope.” (Myatt). Myatt refers to becoming, growth, a natural unfolding, or as we have mentioned in our latest post: blossoming. Myatt underscores that this is not about some abstract essence, but rather a balance a being should achieve: a balance between what you were, are now and the potentiality that might be. A constant inner dialectical proces that takes place as part of your alchemical growth. Bataille was also intruiged by dialectics and in his meditations he also urges one not to stand still, to get rid of a prolonged stupidty, the mask of stupidity. Myatt calles this Hubris. So, both agree on the fact that one should not strife for some ‘ideal’, but one is constantly in motion.  


For Heraclitus Physis is the “natural being which we tend to cover up” and therefore we are talking about an ontology: “a reality, a true nature”. As Myatt explains in his Notes on Heraclitus:

Thus, Φύσις (Physis) is not simply what we understand as Nature; rather, Nature is one way in which Φύσις is manifest, presenced, to us: to we human beings who possess the faculty of consciousness and of reflexion (Thought). That is, what we term Nature [See Note 2] has the being, the attribute, of Physis. (Myatt)

And further:

Essentially, the nature of Physis is to be concealed, or hidden (something of a mystery) even though Physis becomes revealed, or can become revealed, by means such as λόγος. There is, thus, a natural change, a natural unfolding – of which Nature is one manifestation – so that one might suggest that Physis itself is this process [ the type of being] of a natural unfolding which can be revealed and which can also be, or sometimes remain, concealed. (Myatt)

Myatt therefore concludes that: 

One translation is: Concealment accompanies Physis. Or: Concealment remains with Physis, like a friend. Another is: The natural companion of Physis is concealment. Or, more poetically perhaps, but much less literally, one might suggest: Physis naturally seeks to remain something of a mystery. (Myatt)

Physis as this natural unfolding, this growth, this blossoming will somehow always remain a mysterie, something we cannot uncover. There are hidden laws at work. Now, for Heraclitus transformation was “the fundamental principle underlying coming-to-be and the diversity of Nature” (Geldard 2000). Fire became his symbol of creation and dissolution. Heraclitus wanted his students to penetrate the surfaces of the manifest world to comprehend it and “to seek transformation to a higher knowledge of the Cosmos” (Geldard 2000). Dr. Geldard here refers to the further development of alchemy which we will focus on later.

According to Heraclitus we are overwhelmed by our senses and these have “mired us in a banal existence to the detriment of our true nature.” (Geldard 2000)

We must free ourselves from the domination of ideas, ideologies, words, ordinary cycles of existence “in the fire of our consciousness”. The transformation by Fire is highly underestimated! We need to follow a transformative Path, true to Physis, of inner inquiry (the Greek and Roman wisdom, the mystics such as Meister Eckhart, Jacob Boehme, Heidegger, Myatt). Our Fire must be kindled by those ferocious thinkers such as Nietzsche and Bataille. The Ways to follow are causal manifestations and meaningless -isms. In this respect I would like to refer to this excellent text of Acausality.

Choose the Way that strengthens you, that appeals to but always remain true to the hidden essence of Physis. Become a nexion, an affective effluvium kindled by the sacred Fire. May Baphomet, Kali, Hecate, Lilith guide you on your Path.
